The 'Mango Avocado Salad' at The Mafoli Restaurant where we celebrated our 20th anniversary last week...
My 'Hawaiian Tofu Kabobs' were excellent as well, but I was suspicious of the coating on the Tofu, there might have been egg involved. Next time I will probably just get two of the above Salads...
Bobby, the hotel cat...
spectacular views go along with the spectacular food at Mafoli. A special occasion place...
in other news, turns out, the Dinner Roast I've enjoyed several times at Natural Livity and Ital Glory is vegetarian, not vegan. If it tastes too good to be true...
other new-to-me items in Cost U Less. I thought I loved Everything Bagels, but others must love them even more...
and Rice that is just for dogs...not much nutrition there...
still loving the Bordeaux Farmers Market. Locals call the below item 'Mutton Vegetable' and it is used in stews. I passed on it since I doubt I will be making stew ever again...
Yesterdays vegan platter at Bordeaux included Tofu on Okra Fungi with Side Salad and an utterly divine deep fried sweet bread...
Below is a pic of Frenchman's Bay. Pretty nifty...
Thanks for looking, dont want to overload you. Bye for now.
I love all the pictures! Really breathtaking views! That salad looks amazing. Congratulations on your anniversary! Twenty years is pretty amazing!
ReplyDeleteThanks. The Salad was amazing. Cant wait to get it again.
DeleteThey told you the dinner roast was vegan? This is why I don't trust restaurants for anything.
ReplyDeleteThere have been some unfortunate communication snafus. The worst being when I double checked the lasagna at a local place that had said it was vegan. I said "are you sure that's not cheese?" and they said "oh, you dont eat cheese?" so i guess not everyone knows what vegan means.
DeleteBobby is the best name for a hotel cat! That cruise ship is huuuge! Who knew you could buy everything bagels spice jars. Twenty years is impressive, we're only half way there.
ReplyDeleteI love hotel cats so much. Bobby was so chill, she didnt even raise her head when I petted her.
DeleteHey happy anniversary! The hotel cat is a split image of our Lucky...even down to the lankiness.
ReplyDeleteAll the food looks great!
I remember when you adopted Lucky. Glad that adoption has been successful.
DeleteHappy Anniversary to you and the Mister!!! What a spectacular view from the restaurant! Too bad about the tofu coating, I hope it was some other binding agent. Too bad about the roast, can you get Field Roast down there? Or do we need to overnight it to you? ;)
ReplyDeleteHilarious about the Everything Bagel Seasoning! Or just open your spice jars, and call it a day.
There are tons of Field Roast and Gardein products down here. There are also tons of Worthington products. Worthington items appear to be primarily vegetarian and not vegan and so I am learning when restaurants offer Skallops, Grillers or Dinner Roast to know these are Worthington products and not vegan. Glad I am not the only one surprised to see Everything Bagel Seasoning. So much new stuff the past few months...
DeleteHappy anniversary!!! That's such an awesome view with dinner there. And gorgeous salad. I've never heard of fried tofu with egg, it's almost always just rolled in cornstarch and fried which creates that crusty outside.
ReplyDeleteI want that everything spice!! On....everything! I'm nanoseconds away from finding that on amazon.
Glad your great farmers market lady is still making her magic.
New job is seriously insane hours right now- the upside is it's a nice bike ride to and from the office (until it gets too cold!) and there's a brooklyn fare market nearby- even though it's in manhattan. The other veg*ns are non righteous and normal enough :)
Ttrockwood
I do hope you're right about the Tofu, but it did seem like a batter-type coating....The Everything Bagel Seasoning might be good on the rim of a Bloody Mary (like salt on the rim of a Margarita). It is strange to me that one can start a new job and be busy. When a programmer starts a new job, you usually have to just sit and read the first few weeks. Seriously tedious. Glad your other vegans are normal. I once worked with a vegetarian who had to broadcast it to everyone all the time.
DeleteHappy Anniversary!! What a milestone! I love looking at all of your pictures, I am living vicariously through your island adventures. That picture of the view from Mafoli is stunning. What a beautiful spot! Dinner looks really delicious too!
ReplyDeleteI've actually heard of people using "everything bagel seasoning!" I bet you could find a million ways to use that stuff, ha!
You are correct, I will be heading down to Florida for a long weekend next week! I can't wait!
I will expect a full report on your trip (sans lizards). You havent been keeping up with your blogging promises in case you didnt know.
DeleteI love everything bagels, but everything-coated roasts? Weird! That blue water is spectacular. I've only ever seen brown.
