Foul Food But Fine Fauna

I read that the Mangrove Cafe at Sugar Bay Resort had a Salad Bar, so yesterday the usual lunch at De Coal Pot was sacrificed for a new experience. The Salad Bar is $10 for AYCE, but I only ate this much. It was okay...
however, I also opted for the Spaghetti with Tomato Sauce $12. I figured, 'How bad could Tomato Sauce be? It must be somewhat decent'. Prison food is probably better. I am just posting it here to get it out of my photo album so I dont have to look at it again. And, yes, I ate it all. Gnarly.
what saved the day was the little wildlife oasis next to the restaurant...
Amongst the assembled beauties were a Small Blue Heron...
several Common Moorhens...
a Laughing Gull...
White Cheek Pintail Ducks...
and quite a few Iguanas...
the resort has an impressive pool set up. People were playing a very serious game of volleyball...
and sitting at the swim-up bar. Reminded me I need to have more fun in my life...
sort of a waterfall...
a grotto area for romantic trysting...
spying on the bar from the grotto...
Cardinal Flowers...
So there was some bad, but mostly good. Bye for now.

  1. A swim up bar!! I want to go to that!! And I don't even like swimming that much. Did you go in? Do you ever swim?
I really am curious about that pasta. I'm trying to remember the worst tomato sauce I've ever had...

    1. I only swim in the ocean, but swim-up bars do seem the best kind. I am trying to forget the worst tomato sauce I ever had.

  2. I want to go to a swim up bar so badly! I love the water! I've never seen iguanas in their natural habitat, let alone so many! It's really cool. Are they friendly towards people? Man, too bad the food blew but the sights were so amazing!

    1. the Iguanas thrill me too. Unfortunately, seeing them in the road is also quite common, The best way I've found to get them off the road is to come at them asking for a hug. That gets em to scurry off real quick.

  3. Wow! The landscape is certainly spectacular, as well as the bird/reptile watching!

The spaghetti is reminiscent of Chef Boyardee.

  4. Wow, what a beautiful location! How cool are those iguanas?! So adorable, I love it. The birds are very cool too. I bet a swim up to the bar would have helped you erase the memory of lunch. The pasta looks like it is sitting in watered down tomato soup.

  5. How in the world could they screw up pasta so badly?? You really should have said something instead of making yourself eat it! Bummer you passed up coal pot for that.
I need swim up bars in my life.
