More Salads

Who knew I would find so many great Salads down here? Including, the 'House Salad' $11.95 at Caribbean Saloon. Surprisngly fresh for a very non-vegan place...

The 'Kale Salad' $13.95 at Cruzan Beach Club. Kale, Mango, Grape Tomatoes, Curried Pepitas and Toasted Coconut with Cilantro Lime Vinaigrette. This one was okay, a lot of work to eat, but I eventually accomplished it. Doubt I would order it again though...
The 'Island Mixed Greens' $12 at The Twisted Cork. Tropical Fruit, Hearts of Palm, Tomatoes, Red Onion, Sprouts, Rum Chipotle Candied Cashews and Passion Fruit Vinaigrette. The Candied Cashews were made with just Brown Sugar and Rum, no butter. A delightful Salad, I look forward to having again. Probably with a side order of bread, cuz it was very light and practically floated off the plate...
and finally, the best of all, the feta-less 'Greek Salad' $9.95 carried out from Virgilio's. The non-traditonal appearance surprised me, but one mouthful and I was in Chopped Salad heaven. Will be ordering this at least weekly...
it came with Garlic Bread which I dont know is vegan or not, so the Chickens were in Garlic Bread heaven...
As usual, I did nothing to celebrate Cinco De Mayo, but I believe that Ingrid explained last year, that it really isnt the Mexican Independence Day or something, so I dont feel so bad. Bye for now.

  1. The chopped Greek salad does look the best! Olives are always so good.
the kale salad sounds good theoretically but the leaves do not look wilted enough at all.
i want chipotle candied cashews! Sounds really delicious.

  2. The kale salad looks tasty, but it looks like they didn't cut the leaves small enough. I bet that was a whole lot of chewing! I love chopped salads, and I love Greek salads. I love seeing the chickens!

    1. The Kale Salad was a lot of chewing. Like "will this ever end?"

  3. That totally isn't what i would expect a greek salad to look like but chopped salads are great so that actually seems brilliant! Maybe next time you can just ask for plain bread, though i'm sure the chickens enjoyed their snack :)
That island greens salad looks like another winner, especially with such yummy cashews! I love a good kale salad but really just if it has been massaged so it's soft. Great to have such a nice selection!

    1. I am eating so much more Salad here than I did back in Virginia. Never expected that. Wish I was smart enough to figure out why.

  4. Yes, give them some feedback on the kale salad! The other ingredients sound delish, but they need to finely chop and wilt the leaves. Boo.

The Greek salad sounds awesome! I occasionally get into a salty salad craving, and those are perfect to ask for - sans feta.

I did not celebrate with tacos or Corona, as many do, so we can both make up for it on a random Taco Tuesday. 😉

    1. You are so funny about 'giving feedback' and suggestions for restaurants. I was too scared to ask for extra lettuce on my Chipotle Burrito Bowl! I do not like drawing attention to myself around people preparing my food.

  5. So many beautiful salads! I'm with everyone else, the greek salad looks amazing. Tofu feta would be such a great addition. That is definitely on a long list of things for me to make :)
