Not So Busy Weekend

I was hoping to do a big Mother's Day Weekend post, but things sort of fizzled out halfway through. Started out strong with my favorite breakfast at Gladys'...
the requisite Grits...
Usually on Saturday's I stock up on my kitty litter for the week. The Island supply seems to be dwindling, I think most cat owners use sand from the beach. The first place I go to look for it is Peublo...
They had this Mother's Day display which I thought was lots of good ideas, plus I was able to score four 10 pound bags of Tidy Cat...
lunch was my favorite 'Veggie Delight' at De Coal Pot...
made a Salad at The Fruit Bowl for dinner. I finally sprung for the FYH Ranch Dressing and it is just as great as VP says...
one thing I've noticed at The Fruit Bowl Salad Bar is that every time I am behind a 'local', they always sprinkle lots of Cayenne Pepper on top of their Salad once it is assembled and dressed. I have never seen that before...
Dessert was part of this Jamaican Style Country Fruit Bun...
Cant tell from lookin, but heated up in the toaster oven with some veggie cream cheese, it was quite tasty. Very Gingery....
Today was not a good food day, so here are some other stands alongside the highway selling Mother's Day gifts...
I hope the recipients of these were pleased.
Lots more to come. Bye for now.

  1. Happy mother's day to you! Yesterday looks like it was delicious.... The cayanne on salad sounds nuts to me but there are people who put hot sauce on near anything, so i believe you. Good salad dressing is really important!

Just a few of us for brunch, and we went to nish nush (all vegetarian) which has the best hummus in nyc.

    1. Nish Nush doesnt look like they would have any Bloody Mary's. Unusual choice for Mother's Day, but saying it has the best Hummus in NYC is high praise indeed.

  2. Cayenne on salad definitely sounds strange, and I love spicy food. Cayenne is so spicy though, it just sounds so weird on a salad! I'm so glad you like the Ranch, especially at the price!
I think it looks like a great food day!

    1. I stocked up on the Ranch in case it doesnt show up here anymore. I remember today that I used to use TJ's Goddess Dressing on my Salads. That was good stuff as well.

  3. Looks pretty busy to me, hauling all that cat litter is tough enough. How much do you go through in a week? I'm curious. I'd also probably use beach sand if i could, though.
I think that fruit bun does look really good, actually.
As for the salad, i used to dress my salads with cayenne, nooch, and lemon juice and call it a day. it's not bad if you don't mind the heat.

    1. I would guestimate that I use at least 80 pounds of Litter a week. Cant rely on public transportation for that lifestyle choice.

Your Salads are so much more healthy than mine.

  4. Oooh everything looks really good! I don't know why but I can't find that Follow Your Heart salad dressing anywhere! Maybe I should just order it online because it will be the path of least resistance. I really need to get on the avocado toast and that salad looks really nice. The cayenne is a strange touch but I didn't notice it from the picture so it didn't seem to be too much?

  5. Avocado toast and grits sounds like a great breakfast! The salad looks great, too - I'm having salad envy! Although I'm not sure I'd try it with cayenne...

    1. I love my weekend breakfasts at Gladys'. They could last all day as far as I am concerned. One of those times when 'Island Time' is a good thing.
