Recent Indulgences and a Pupdate

Quinoa is becoming very ubiquitous down here....
my 'Quinoa Salad' with Arugula, Raisins, Cherry Tomatoes, Capers, Pecans and Sherry Vinaigrette at Sails was good, but not as great as the Black Bean, Corn and Avocado Salad that I came there for. Guess they change their menu seasonally...
their Drink of the Day sounded fantastic, I just wasn't in the mood to shell out $16 for it...
picked up a cheeseless Veggie Pizza from Pizza Amore. It was good. Next time I will opt for picking my own Veggies rather than the typical...
Capellini al Pomodoro Fresco carried out from Virgilio's..way too delicious...
I'm always drooling over the Rum Cakes for sale, so I was psyched to find a vegan version...
they did a great job. Will definitely stock up on these...
My Iced Soy Chai Tea from Bad Ass Coffee today was not bad ass at all. I remember Starbucks' doing better a better version...
Scrat trying to squeeze through to the front seat coming home from his neutering on Tuesday. They said he has mange, so he is now on antibiotics, bi-weekly Nextguard doses and the recipient of frequent medicated shampoos.
Sweet Sadie was found to still be heartworm positive, so she is now on (very large) antibiotics, steroids and will be going for monthly injections of 'Melarsornine', the drug that kills heartworms. The price to pay for living in paradise...lots of mosquitos. Anyway, thanks for looking. Bye for now.

  1. Sixteen dollars for a drink? Outrageous! I've never had rum cake, but then again I've never liked rum!
Poor Scrat and Sadie! His little face! I hope they get better soon! You're a very good mom!!

    1. Thanks. I hope they get better soon as well. I hate administering meds.

  2. Your pizza and capellini looks wonderful! Very exciting to find that rum cake, i've always wanted to try one. The fur kids seem to be a handful lately, hope that the TLC and meds help everyone get back to healthy

    1. Sadie's meds should cure her, the tricky part is keeping her calm and confined till she is heartworm free.

  4. Ooooh yum! What delicious meals! $16 for a drink is ridiculous though. I can't believe people actually pay that. It's on par with NYC drink prices! The pasta looks amazing. Pasta pomodoro is my favorite way to eat pasta. I'm glad you finally got to try the rum cake too!

Poor babies. You are a great mom, you are all so lucky to have found each other. You take such good care of them. I hope everyone feels better soon!

    1. $16 for a drink is totally NYC prices. I think I will just buy the ingredients and try to make a Dirty Banana myself at home. If I have more than one, I will break even.

  5. Pupdate is the best title I've ever seen. Poor little loves - I'm glad they have you to nurse them into health!

Delicious eats all the way around! Too bad about the chai; disappointing beverages are annoying.

  6. You do so much for those dogs! I hope they love you as much in return.
16 dollars is a lot for a drink, but that does sound like a crap ton of alcohol. maybe you could makr yr own.
The soy chai looks a little light - was it just not strong enough, or not so flavorful? I actually used to like the way Starb*cks made them.

    1. The Pups love me when I have food.

I will definitely be making my own $16 cocktail.

You were right about the Soy Chai. Just like straight Soy Milk. A place should not call itself 'Bad Ass' if they're going to be totally 'Lame Ass'.
