Mixing It Up

Been eating at Great Wall a lot lately, so a couple weeks ago I threw caution to the wind and requested the Kung Pow chicken with Tofu instead of chicken....
Not a problem! So glad I asked, I have been ordering it this way several times since then...
Carried out from Barefoot Buddha, a 'Mediterranean Sandwich' with Hummus, Sun-Dried Tomatoes, fresh Tomato, Red Onion and Spinach. Serviceable...
from Louie's Market, a Veggie Burger with Spinach and Plaintain...
A Tofu and Black Bean Burrito to celebrate the 4th at Melt. The Mr. really likes this place, but I am not a fan, I just went to be congenial...
Two Genips! Not the most interesting post, just trying to stay in the game. More to come. Bye for now.

  1. Ooooh glad you were able to make the swap because that looks incredible! The sandwich actually sounds really good to me. The kung pow is the definitely winner to me!

Aww sweet Genip! What a cute picture!

    1. Yeah, the sandwich sounds good on paper, but there are no real Bagels down here. Not complaining, just sayin.

  2. That tofu looks incredible! I always notice that people really know how to cook tofu, or so it seems.
I've been wondering about sweet Genip, I'm so glad you featured him!!

    1. Genip is doing great. He especially loves trying to trip us every time we walk past him.

  3. Yay! Awesome that you asked them to swap in tofu, i am certain they couldn't care less about that- looks fantastic.
Any margaritas at Melt to help redeem the hohum food situation? Their menu looks interesting in a diy way that could be really awesome or definitely not.

I've been taking long sweaty bike rides on weekends, today's destination (again) was for the vegan soft serve at by chloe in w village. I just got a big one and called it lunch :)) well and a kale ceasar and a cookie to take home for dinner (subway back home)

    1. I can't bring myself to go there anymore after the BS that went down. Is the soft serve any better than the shitty ice cream they bought from Alchemy Creamery?

    2. I, too, am surprised you went to Chloe's after the bad press on the buyout. Now it is back on my list to try the Soft Serve.

    3. Honestly i think the way the buyout went down was $hitty.
But as a customer it's still really delicious vegan soft serve. And i support delicious vegan food. Therefore i will continue to be a customer- until it is either no longer delicious or no longer vegan. There just aren't enough options for me to start splitting hairs on the backstory of who where why drama...,,,

  4. Hooray for swaps! I'm sure the tofu could be subbed just about anywhere!

How is the heat treating you? Summer is off season for tourists, if I am remembering correctly? Time for more snorkeling!

    1. I figured Kung Pow Tofu wasnt on the menu for a reason.

It is the slow season now so some places are closing for the months of August and September. We were going to go diving this weekend, but the Mr. is having sinus issues from a cold he had well over a month ago.

  5. I don't know about you, but I can be very shy about asking for special vegan items. I always feel like I'm imposing AND setting myself up for disaster. Glad it worked out in this case! Also, cutie kitty in motion!!

    1. I drew some major attention to myself today commenting on a vegan dish at a restaurant. the kitchen staff was reprimanded and everything over it (i was seated next to the kitchen) Was thinking about blogging about it, but that might make it worse. No more opening my mouth for a good long while.
