Some Notable Meals From The Past Week

Yesterday's lunch of Soup and Salad at Virgilio's was one of the best I have had in a while...
the restaurant lighting is romantic, not conducive to food photography...
Black Bean Soup...
this messy thing is the Veggie Roti at Jen's Island Deli. Interesting depth of flavor. I really liked it...
On Sunday, we took the ferry over to St. John and gave Cruz Bay Landing a second chance. Last year we tried eating there, were ignored for 20 minutes and left. This time we got good, fast and friendly service at the bar. We both had their Tofu Scramble (with side of Guac). Maybe I am still a little bitter about last year, will probably go back to doing the Sunrise Smoothie from St. John Scoops on future St. John visits...
On the home front, been sticking to carryout from Louie's Market. Large portions last for days and taste great. Hope they keep it up.
An Orchid for sale at Phantasea Botanical Garden. More to come. Bye for now.

  1. You have been eating some great meals! The soup and salad pictures look great, the lighting was fine! Sometimes the messiest meals are the best ;) The tofu scramble looks so good, did it look better than it tasted? I'm sure that at least your curiosity was satisfied and at least you got to try it. I'm impressed that you even gave them a second chance. I'm a bitter Betty and probably wouldn't have even thought about going in again.

That orchid is gorgeous! Those colors!

    1. I guess the food tasted as good as it looked. Bad first impressions are apparently hard to get over.

  2. That chickpea roti thing looks amazing! It does look like an extra napkins kind of meal. I'm also impressed you gave those guys a second chance, the scramble does look good (although that looks more like sauce than guacamole).
I love that the market has such great take away options! They must recognize you as a regular now :)

The whole foods in my neighborhood just opened (finally and a year behind schedule) so i just spent too much on my salad bar salad and some ice cream by DF mavens which is amazing

    1. I saw an article on Yahoo! News about your new WFs. Made me oddly nostalgic for those hot bar Roasted Potatoes always at the ready. Didnt know I was missing them. Surprised you went for the DF Mavens. Some made its way down here and did not fare the journey well, aka grainy, so I am now leary of that brand. At least you wont have to race home now with the Ice Cream.

  3. Beautiful salad and soup from Virgilio's! I'm so glad you braved the Cruz Bay Landing - your weekend brunches were one of the highlights on your previous blog (for me!), so I'm loving the full brunch plate! Glad they did it right this time!
