Ital Glory

Another day another vegan restaurant...
One protein and four sides for $10...
I got the Veggie Roast with Spinach Spaghetti, Plaintains, Ital Garden Salad and Fresh Stew Greens...
He Who Likes Virginia Better Than The Virgin Islands got the Spicy Chunks with Pumpkin Brown Rice, Breadfruit, Sweet Potatoes, Black Beans and apparently a Cauliflower and a Lentil Fritter....
all of the above was fresh and tasty. I will return often. And now for this week's fabulous critter: The White-cheeked Pintail Duck!
I was taking pics at Sapphire Bay and noticed some movement in the shade...
lots of little ducks!
they were very comfortable with me getting close to take pics...
there was also a seagull amongst the group who apparently identifies as a duck...
Pintails live on aquatic plants and 'dabbling' nutrients from the water...
as usual, a million pics were taken, but I will hold myself back from posting them all here.
These flowers have been in bloom this week around the island.
Bye for now.

    2. So for comment number 400 for this post I was wondering if you got an email from me? My email has been weird and I sent it a few days ago! Just wanted to make sure :)

  4. Sapphire Bay is stunning! Such beautiful water, many cute little ducks! Ital's prices are pretty awesome, as those look like hearty portions and a nice variety! Oh come on, Mister - you won't miss VA in a month, when it's frigid and frozen! ;)

    2. Woops, I meant a couple weeks, not months. Duh!

  5. I love the colors of the restaurant. It feels like it would be full of cheer and love. The ducks are adorable! I love the seagull. The water is so beautiful. Sometimes in movies or shows where the water is so perfect I almost think Hollywood is exaggerating the blue, but I guess it does exist!

    1. The water is so blue it is mindblowing. Seriously, those Hollywood beaches exist. I hope you get to one (with all the fuzzies in tow).

  6. It's so cool that there are so many vegan places around. I love the portion sizes at that place and how you can mix and match your own meals.

  7. How do you even make a decision there?? I would have been standing there dumbfounded for like ten minutes, easy. I do know i want whatever a coconut dumpling is! Good call on the veg roast, but the Mr's Meal He Won't Ever Find in VA saucey chunks and pumpkin rice looks damned good too....
Those ducks have such beautiful coloring! The random seagull cracks me up- nice they all get along apparently.
I went to my favorite wine bar (el quinto pino) and had their amazing "alubias con espinacas" , this spinach chickpea super thick stew that is unintentionally vegan- i'm now officially on a mission to recreate it at home. And the fried chickpea snack.

    1. I am very often dumbfounded at these places. I dont think I am as annoying about it as I was in the beginning. I just have to keep telling myself I dont have to get everything, I can come back again (and check out the Coconut Dumplings). Speaking of Coconuts, every time I see the Coconut Milk Guy, I dont have my empty jug, and when I do have it, he's not on his corner. One of these days we will sync up. I love Spinach and Chickpea Stew. Good luck recreating it. God only knows what mysterious things they do to it that cant be recreated by the home cook.

  8. Hi little ducks including trans-avaian seagull. Very cute.
Pretty little shack up top in that first picture.
The food all looks delicious. I'm with mr. SV and the pumpkin rice and Virginia weather.

  9. Man those two meals look amazing. Exactly where in St John is this little restaurant, and do you have to have a car to get to it, or are there taxis going that way.

    1. I apologize for the confusion. This little place is on Hospital Line Road next to Lionel Roberts Stadium in Charlotte Amalie. Not only that, the Dinner Roast turns out not to be vegan, just vegetarian. I will be posting on that soon. Other than that, highly recommend!
