St. John Revisited

We took the car ferry $50 roundtrip to St. John on Friday. Less expensive than renting a Jeep for the day and a pleasurable experience to enjoy the beautiful views while being transported in our own car...
besides swimming at Trunk Bay, we went to the #1 spot on Trip Advisor, Our Market Smoothies...
they were out of Passion Fruit and Guava so I went with the Mango, Banana, Strawberry..
$7 for a large. Bio-degradable containers have not made it down here...
it is a shame to serve these great Smoothies, just fresh fruit and ice, in styrofoam, but otherwise Our Market Smoothies totally deserves to be #1.
Below is a picture of Hawksnest Bay just to break things up. It is much more beautiful than this...
Lunch was at #4 on Trip Advisor: De' Coal Pot...
He Who Likes Virginia Better Than The Virgin Islands tried their signature cocktail: Spiced Rum, Soursop Juice with a 'dollop' of Cruzan Blackstrap Rum on top. He liked it so much, the first thing he did upon arrival back in St. Thomas was to buy a bottle of Cruzan Blackstrap Rum...
I went with the Rum Punch. It did pack a punch....
My Veggie Delight $14.95 was phenomenal. I think those patties might have been fried Eggplant. I couldn't identify what they were made of, I will ask next time...
While walking Molly in the morning I noticed some unusual fruits growing along the ground...
then I saw the Passion Flowers. So cool. I tried growing Passion Fruit in Virginia but could never get the fruit to set before the frost came. Definitely gotta plant some of these vines here.
Lots more to come. Bye for now.

  3. The veggie delight looks super yummy...you must let us know what they're made out of and let us know. The cocktails look scrumptious too and they're making me thirsty.

  4. Lots of great things in this post (except the styrofoam). The smoothie sounds absolutely incredible! It must have been really refreshing. The beach is so stunning, that water is so clear and blue!! It really is paradise.

I have a soft spot in my heart for rum punch. I drank quite a bit of the most delicious rum punch at my brother's wedding as it was his signature drink and got quite inebriated haha. The Veggie Delight looks absolutely incredible! I'm definitely jealous of that! Gorgeous flowers :)

  5. Good idea going with your own car this time. That looks like a great smoothie shop! And so many choices.... The styrofoam is lame. And fab beverages with lunch, wow. Bet blackstrap rum is hard to find in VA. Sounds freaking delicious! Your lunch patties do look like good ones, lots of texture there too.
Does coconut water man sell jugs? Must be nice to have a job where you decide your own hours but makes it harder to buy his coconut water!

I just started a new job this week- it's crazy busy- and the office kitchen has almond milk and soy milk! Fancy. And two mornings a week platters of fresh fruit for everyone! There are even a few of us veg*ns-strength in numbers ;)

    1. I am pretty sure the Coconut Man does not sell jugs. He had a machete, a funnel and shopping carts full of Coconuts. I will sync up with him soon. Congrats on the new job! i hope you at least have a window seat at this one and the other vegans are cool not annoying.

  6. Passion Flowers are among my faves! I tried growing a plant here years ago and got a few to bloom but it didn't come back the following year!

    1. At least in Virginia, the Passion Flower would come back yearly (actually became rather invasive), but alas, no fruit.

  7. I just want to be on that beach and in that water! It just looks so beautiful there, I can hardly believe such beauty exists. It is a shame to muck it up with styrofoam. The passion flower is one of the prettiest flowers I've ever seen!
