When The Gander Is Away...

Took a leisurely stroll through Phantasea Botanical Gardens today...
A Dendrobium Orchid from New Guinea called 'Andre Millar' was in bloom..
as well as many other gorgeous plant specimens...
lovely colors...
tried to avoid lizard pics but this little fella was too cute to resist...
impressive whatever this is...
another orchid...
the view of Magen's Bay from the Garden...
finally learned what a Bromiliead is...
Bromilead...
sweet tiny flowers...
Turner Classic Movies is one of my favorite channels. Last night I thoroughly enjoyed a movie from 1935 called 'The Goose And The Gander' with George Brent and Kay Francis (big fan big fan). I was intrigued by this swimsuit Mr. Brent wore...
Ya gotta run into the water holding hands, otherwise it isnt as fun...
more pleasure carried out from the Bordeaux Farmer's Market this afternoon. Yes, those are Mashed Potatoes...
More later. Bye for now.

  1. What gorgeous flowers! I love orchids but my black thumb prevents me from owning any.... Those swim suits are hysterical! Very "Y3" kind of design there.
What are the purple leaves in your take out? Salad greens? Good call on the mashed potatoes and gravy there.

Dim sum go go doesn't have cart ladies, but that's almost better since it's made to order (and those cart ladies are soooo not helpful on dim sum identification- like the turnip cakes "do these have meat?" " turnip cake!!" "No meat?" "No meat! Turnip!!" Low and behold there were meaty bits inside....)

    1. I hope your comrades in eating made sure the Turnip Cakes didnt get wasted. Why did a Turnip Cake need meat in it? and what is up with those pork buns? I am hoping the new cancer risk related to meat consumption will slow these people down, but so far it doesnt appear as such.

    1. Actually, the night blooming Cerus plant that produces Dragon Fruit grows well here. I posted a pic of it a few months ago but didnt know what it was at the time. I know you are interested in Dragon Fruit.

  4. What beautiful pictures from the gardens! The orchids are stunning and I loved the little lizard! What a cutie! I saw lots of little lizards out and about in Orlando but absolutely zero on the screen of his patio. The meal looks really delicious as well! Hope all is well with you!

  5. George Brent's swimming costume has to be the 1930's forerunner of Borat's unitard.

The flowers are exquisite and so exotic looking...I'm imagining a lovely tropical fragrance too.

I love that little lizard! So adorable.

    1. The suit was like a Unitard. I wondered about how it worked at the bottom, but will never know...

    2. It's probably best not to think too deeply about that! PS just saw that impressive red flower at the Bronx BG this weekend.
