A Lot Was Eaten Between Christmas and New Year's

Dang I have been gluttonous the last week....
Tofu Scramble with Hashbrowns at Shoreline Bar & Grille. They have been under new ownership for the past few months and been better for it...
not only is there now a hot vegan breakfast item available on the island on weekends, they have a great view. Not so much of Margaritaville, but the clear water, rainbow and pelicans were all enjoyed right from our seat on the waters edge...
I am on a neverending quest to learn to appreciate Eggplant, hence my ordering a Roasted Eggplant and Pepper Sandwich at Cafe Amalia. The first bites were outstanding, not like Eggplant at all, but towards the end, it got to be too much...
located in Palm Passage, such a beautiful setting for dining...
another great meal was had at The Lanai at Limetree Beach. The Roasted Cauliflower with Siracha was a big enough portion for sharing...
my 'Miso Salad' with Cucumber, Radishes, Tomatoes, Tofu and Tortilla Strips was fresh and crunchy...
a beautiful setting at Bluebeards Beach Club....
yesterday, we took the ferry to Tortola and had Vegetable Roti at
Sebastian's...
this is Sebastian's...
the view of Jost Van Dyke from Sebastian's...
a pic of Cane Garden Bay in Tortola...
Tortolan Pelicans. Thanks for looking and Happy New Year! Bye for 2016.

Happy Holidays

Christmas is not as big a deal down here as on the mainland....
Santa was all by his lonesome at TuTu Park Mall yesterday. I only took his pic cuz it amused me that he had a bottle of Coke. I guess I dont think of Santa eating and drinking except for milk & cookies...
as a local celebration, every mid-December there is an evening lighted boat parade that is super impressive. The main street is shut down and there are some steel drum bands playing Christmas music while people walk up and down the drag. A good way to observe the season...
many folks wear Santa Hats around as well...always fun to see, but probably super hot...
a crystal Santa and Reindeer in the Swarovski window...
Gardein Turk'y Cutlets with Pepperidge Farm Stuffing for dinner tonight...
Vegan Treats Nutball and Buckeye for dessert. Lots more to come. Bye for now.

Since My Last Post

not much has happened, although I did eat some great food....
a 'Tuscan Sun' Wrap at Slice Hummus, Roasted Red Peppers, Romaine, Cucumbers, Sun-Dried Tomatoes, Onions, Basil and Balsamic Glaze. Hard to believe all that stuff was in the Wrap, but whatever it was was might tasty...
plus we enjoyed watching an Iguana by the pool...
had a nice bowl of Veggie Chili from the Fruit Bowl Soup Bar on Tuesday for lunch. It was a really good batch of Chili and I was sorry I didnt get more...
Great Wall is an excellent Chinese Restaurant that we have neglected since Saki House opened...
I love their spicy Tofu dishes, even though they just use soft Tofu. Seems to work for them. Above was lunch on Thursday..
Friday afternoon we were thrilled to see Island icon Lucia Henley had her holiday display up...
non-vegan Pies, Rum Cakes and Black Breads...
Jams, Hot Sauces, Seasonings etc...
I chose the above - Salsa, Native Seasoning, Guava Preserves and Passion Fruit Preserves. Love her stuff...
my Vegan Treats Cookies have also been well worth the price. That Nut Ball has Peanut Butter Filling...
as does this 'Buckeye'...
the one on the left looks like the dullest Cookie, but is like Butterscotch. Possibly the best Cookie after the Peanut Butter Balls. Lots more to come. Bye for now.

I Sent Myself Cookies

Below is a lousy picture of eight bags of Christmas Cookies that arrived today. Turns out Vegan Treats will mail their Holiday Cookie Sampler to the Virgin Islands! Such a forward thinking company...
Just to show that sometimes I eat healthfully, this is a Blackened Tofu Salad enjoyed at The Grille At Mahogany Run this week...
our new seating arrangement bought in hopes of easy pee and puke cleanups. Unfortunately, it is not very easy on the posterior....
the benches were bought at Re-Use Emporium and formerly were part of a bar/restaurant that closed down...
When they delivered the benches, we assumed that they were taking our old couch to the landill. Today we popped into the store and were shocked to see our old couch for sale. They had cleaned the cushions, but I guess they couldnt repair the wicker that had been clawed and/or chewed off...
Now that its clean, I sort of feel like buying it back if it is still around in February. I didnt appreciate how comfortable it was...
lastly, I poured myself a glass of water today and turned my back for a minute. Little Mama was going to town on it, even though there was a wider rimmed water dish right next to it. Such a Little Mama!
to remind people this is a blog from a tropical setting, below is a picture I took of a Porcupine Fish...
Lots more to come. Bye for now.

A Week Of Lunches

All were winners this week, starting with a Vegetable Panini at Bella Blu. The bread was so light with Roasted Red Peppers, Spinach, Tomato and Olive Oil. They did a great job...
Tuesday was a feta-less Greek Salad carried out from Virgilios. This Salad is so delicious, I fear there might be egg or dairy in the dressing....
Wednesday I just stayed home and enjoyed Gardein Crispy Tenders with Heinz-57. Both items are ridiculously expensive down here, but gotta show the demand for them...
Thursday, I carried out a large platter from Love Livin. Lasagna, Broccoli, Eggplant and Pasta Salad. Tons left for future meals, a great value...
Lunch today was another Vegetable Panini, this time at Boom Cucina. Lots of Zucchini, Onions and a little rustic style Hummus. Messy but tasty, I will get it again..
the fuzzies have pretty much done in our couch, so Tuesday a non-absorbant replacement will be arriving...
ads for next months Vegan Food Fair are appearing around the Island. Hope to purchase some homemade sweets...
Lots more to come. Bye for now.

A Fur-Free Post

Been trying out new-to-us places using my new Canon Powershot, bought duty free last week. So far I am not noticing the camera taking better pics than my phone. First up was Rancho Latino for some Pasta Primavera (hold the cheese) with Plaintains on the side. Abundant and tasty, but, not worth returning for...
was still learning how to take a pic without my finger blocking the lens...
a better pasta dish was found at Sugarcane Grill. My 'Rasta Pasta' was made special for me using Olive Oil instead of butter. Excellent use of seasonings, we cant wait to return to this lovely open air restaurant...
fantastic views as well...
yesterday, we went to Slice where I enjoyed the 'VI Grown Mixed Green Salad' with Cucumbers, Cherry Tomatoes, Onions, Artichokes, Cranberries, Quinoa and Balsamic Vinaigrette. I added the Blackened Tofu. A Salad Tour De Force...
the restaurant faces the swimming pool at Sapphire Village, the inside is nice and clean, we will return and often...
Last, and very much least was Sandbar. My 'Caribbean Ensalada' was a rip-off for $14...
didnt detect a hint of rum in my Mango Passionfruit Daiquiri either. $12 eight ounce smoothie is what it was...
Sandbar only has the view going for it IMO...
another recent discovery was the Nirvana Temple in Mandahl Bay...
looking out at the BVIs from inside...
We had to take off our shoes and speak in hushed tones while exploring. Very nice place...
a Hibiscus for Sarah...
Lots more to come. Bye for now.
