We rented a Suzuki from Denzil Cline for $55 and went all the way to the East End of the Island and back. First stop was Callwood Rum Distillery...
got a little tutorial on their various Rums...from youngest to oldest etc...
bought a bottle of the Spiced for $20 and hit the road...
if you are ever in Tortola during a full moon, you MUST go to Bomba's Shack for their Full Moon Party...
we went many moons ago. The Mr. reminded me we did Mushrooms there and I do recall eating some dried brown things out of a little baggie, but they didnt affect me. People have such a great time, they take off their undies to leave as decoration...
saw so many Pelicans...
as well as Goats...
situated at the seemingly lovely Sugar Mill Hotel...
fantastic view...
another Pelican posed right in front of us...
had to get a Painkiller, it was very well made...
my Greek Salad without the feta was excellent...
as was the Hummus and Pita that came with it...
all in all, a successful day....
Lots more of life back on St. Thomas still to come. Bye for now.
Rum tasting sounds fun- i love spiced rum too. Those goats are kind of adorable..! Looks like a great spot for lunch between the view and gorgeous salad.
ReplyDeleteHappy easter :)

Happy Easter! Yeah, we really lucked out on the lunch spot. Spur of the moment thing and worked out perfectly.
DeleteThe tidy whities hanging on that shack definitely lets me know that is the place to party! Ha ha so funny. The views are breathtaking to me looking at the pictures, I can't imagine seeing it in person. The goats are so cute, do they just live wild on the island? Are they friendly?
ReplyDeleteThe Goats may belong to somebody, I am unsure. I never approached one because I dont want to scare them. What scares me is how common Goat is on the menus down here:-(
DeleteHaha those whities are not so tiny. Looks like a beautiful place to party, though. i mean, if ya gotta.
ReplyDeleteNice lookin salad. Is there mango in there? Or is it bell pepper. Have you ever tried making yr own vegan feta? I think the easiest way is pressing extra firm tofu and marinating it in oregano, salt, and red wine vinegar. It's pretty easy.
It was Peppers in the Salad, but I have enjoyed Mango in the Salads here. I have never made my own Feta, you make it sound easy.
DeleteHaha that looks like fun! I love the goats, too cute! I also really like the beachside lounge area at the bar. How beautiful! The salad and hummus/pita all looks incredible, yum!
ReplyDeleteI am crazy for all the Goats on St. John and Tortola. If I had a fenced in property, I would try to get a few.
DeleteTortola is simply beautiful! Such views! I like the goats hanging out, is it normal for them just to lay in the street, or are they foraging in the brush most of the time?
ReplyDeleteHow was the rum?
The Goats seem to pretty much do whatever they want. They hang in the street and sleep in the shade and go munch grass when they get hungry.
DeleteThe Rum was the best we have ever tasted. Could be sipped straight.
