Saturday in St. Croix

This morning we flew thirty miles south to St. Croix...
the flights were on time and very fun. We sat right behind the pilot which was cool, but not as cool as the passenger that gets to sit beside him. Approaching the runway in St. Croix...
we rented a Jeep from Centerline Car Rental and headed to Christiansted for breakfast at Baked Cafe...
set in a dog-friendly picturesque courtyard, they have lots of vegan options...
So many items to choose from...
in retrospect we should have come back for lunch...hopefully one day...
my Ginger Orange Turmeric Kombucha on the right and the Mr's Iced Coffee on the left. Bamboo straws from Bali. My Kombucha was fresh and only $5, less than any bottled Kombucha I've seen for sale in the stores. The ice cubes in the Iced Coffee were made out of Coffee!
I went for the special, Avocado Toast on fresh Baked Multigrain. Outstanding. If this place were on St. Thomas we would eat here every day. Only complaint is we didnt have the time today to appreciate the leisurely service...
after walking around Christiansted, which was lovely and peaceful, we headed to the west end of the Island. My navigation skills screwed us up and we lost valuable time with u-turns and what not...
managed to find the Cruzan Rum Distillery...
there were lots of people there for the tour, so we bailed and just continued to Fredericksted, the other big city on the Island...
Polly's On The Pier is number three on Tripadvisor, but we were completely unimpressed...
my Hummus Wrap was totally meh and the Mr wasnt thrilled with his Quesadillas either...
the highlight of Fredericksted was this woman sitting in front of a boutique. She was super great with all the kids excited to see her...
below is a pic taken on the flight back of the rainforest. St. Croix was much cleaner than St. Thomas, didnt see any stray dogs or cats, not as many pot holes. I will look forward to returning and seeing more. Bye for now.

  1. Looks like such a fun day!! Such pretty avocado toast. Sorry the hummus wrap was meh. But that gorgeous view probably made up for the meh factor!!

    1. Well I hate to waste a meal, and boy that Hummus Wrap was the definition of wasting a meal.

  2. Absolutely gorgeous! Do you suppose St. Croix is less populated than Aruba? What a fun little trip!

    1. I think St. Croix is less populated than Aruba. I have been to Aruba and it is great, but I think St. Croix is better in terms of things to do and overall beauty.

  3. How fun to go do that for a day! The menu at that breakfast spot looks fantastic (aside from all the bananas in the smoothies and smoothie bowls ;) obviously you need to go back for the tour of the rum distillery anyhow. A little plane like that would scare the bejeezus out of me though...!

    1. The little plane didnt scare me for some reason. It seemed somewhat laughable in terms of how we were all seated according to our weight and size.

  4. What a beautiful day! How cool to be able to check out a whole new island just 30 miles away. It's funny, I was thinking I couldn't believe how long you've been there! It seems like just yesterday! The drinks and ago toast look amazing. Bummer about the wrap, it looks like it had potential to be really good. I love the mermaid lady!

    1. A year and eight months we have been here. Lots of turmoil, but still way better than being in Virginia that's for sure.
