Pounding Pasta

The 'Vegetable Pasta Toss' is only served at Sunday brunch at Hook, Line and Sinker, wish they would add it to their daily lunch menu so I could partake more frequently...
the 'Go Go Pasta' with Arugula, Tomatoes, Olives and Capers at Pasta Go Go is a major deal for $8, includes lovely al fresco dining in a charming alleyway...
Tofu and Noodles carried out from the New Golden Dragon. If you are ever in Charlotte Amalie and see locals walking around eating from a stryofoam container like the one below, then it is most likely grub from New Golden Dragon. Only $3.50 for all this food...and it is good!
Pasta Salad carried out from Ma's Vegi Deli. Since Ma told me that she uses Vegenaise in the Pasta Salad, I have been buying about a quart a week. So grateful that Ma knows how to cook the Noodles till 'al dente'...
The gimmicks that Cruzan Rum uses to get tourists to pick up their bottles always amuses me...
Lots more to come. Bye for now.

Solo Saturday

The Mr. is back in Virginia till after the election (The VI doesnt vote in the presidential elections). I had a relaxing day to myself, starting with a Peanut Butter and Banana Panini at Pasta Go Go...
then I picked up Calvin and went to the beach...
where we made a new friend named Lester....
who has the most adorable underbite I have ever seen...
hope we get to see him again, such a fun laid back guy...
next it was on to De Coal Pot for some Veggie Delight...
picked up some Chicken Scratch, Yams for the Pups, Ice Cream and Cereal for myself at Plaza Extra...
once dinner time comes, it will most likely be some Tofu, Veggies and Lentils carried out from Love Livin...
one last pic of Calvin...
On a not so positive note, I found out too late that 'The Bachelor' was filming on the Island the past week. So I missed out on possibly seeing Nick Viall in person (and finding out what women see in him, they should have picked Luke IMO). Bet Chris Harrison would have been friendly and down to earth, had I met him. Alas. Anyway, more to come. Bye for now.

Vacation From Vacation

The Mr. agreed to babysit while I go see beauty elsewhere. Below are my last meals here before taking off for a week. I have shown them before but I they are my faves. Starting with breakfast yesterday at Pasta Go Go, a European style cafe (oh yeah, Europe is where I am going)...
lunch was my favorite 'Veggie Delight' at De Coal Pot....
Dinner was just Boca Burgers at home. I was too lazy to go out....
This morning a cruise ship was in port, so Gladys' was open...
I got to see Gladys making fresh Soursop Juice. Wish I had taken a pic...
Lunch was at Amalia Cafe...
Gazpacho...
the Vegetable Plate. There was so much that I plan to have the leftovers for dinner tonight.
Tomorrow morning I fly to Miami and then on to Frankfurt. If all goes well, I hope to blog the trip. It will be my first time in Europe being dairy free and a non-coffee drinker, so that will be a challenge. Below is the face of someone who would be extremely traumatized if a stranger were to come in and take over the house (although that person might do better at sweeping up the cat hair)...
this little gal probably wouldnt care as much...
this one requires round the clock love...

He Left On A Jet Plane...

but he will supposedly be back in about a month or so. The Mr. that is. So he got to pick where we ate this weekend. Since it is my blog, I am only showing what I ate at the places he picked. Breakfast yesterday at Pasta Go Go...Love their PB and Banana Panini...
Lunch was at Saki House, where we shared some Edamame...
I had the Tofu with Cashews which was outstanding. The food just keeps getting better and better here...
I was surprised when, later in the afternoon, he said he wanted to go to Mountain Top for a Banana Daiquiri....
Didnt know he liked them so much. Before we went in, we ran into Mr. Calypso Coconut who was giving a guided tour...
he was chewing on a Carob Pod and gave me a piece...
wasnt the chocolatey goodness I expected. I had to have a Banana Daiquiri just to try to get the bitter taste out of my mouth...
the view from Mountain Top was pretty clear yesterday...
For dinner, the Mr. opted for a carryout pizza from Restaurant Thirteen, so I enjoyed some Lasagna from Love Livin....
this morning we went to Gladys' as usual. When I ordered my Avocado, Gladys's sister, Pauline, said she would have to check if there were any. Apparently, Avocado season on the Island is coming to a close and they only serve local Avocados...
thankfully, they had one and the Grits were also great...
the Mr. had picked The Pie Whole for his final meal, but when we arrived, the place was closed up tight as a drum. They are no longer doing weekend lunch during the low season. We went next door to their sister restaurant Bella Blu and I had a House Salad which was just okay. The Mr. wasnt thrilled with his Caprese Panini either, so that was a bummer note to end on...
then it was off to the airport...
there is more room on the couch now...
Lots more to come. Bye for now.

Food and Flowers

Enjoyed a Peanut Butter and Banana Panini at Pasta Go Go yesterday morning. They were mobbed, so hopefully they will continue to stay open on Saturdays....
checked out Plantation Crown and Hawk Botanical Garden after breakfast...
5 1/2 acres of plants...
with a maze. I didnt venture in. Way too hot to get potentially trapped in a maze....
peafowl....
I liked how they displayed their collection of succulent plants...
some orchids...
looked familiar...
stripey...
a Passion Flower...
Lunch was at De Coal Pot, recently opened in Red Hook. The Veggie Delight was exactly the same as at their Cruz Bay location. No more ferrying over to St. John to enjoy their fantastic food....
breakfast this morning at another new restaurant, SOS Coffee Bar and Grille. Fresh Fruit...
and Roasted Potatoes with a side of Pico De Gallo...
something about the handwriting and cartoons on their menu was oddly reminiscent of a certain zine...
then it was off to Phantasea Botanical Gardens to see what was blooming there...
obviously, a lot of stuff...

this one was way up high...

there were no cruise ships in today, so most everything was closed in Charlotte Amalie. Fortunately, Greengos was open...
Lots more to come. Bye for now.
