More Food and Critters

Some recent grub from Love Livin: a very refreshing Kale Salad...
Roti is a popular item down here. This was my first experiece. It was massive, not like a Burrito that one could pick up and each with your hands...
Cutting off a piece to eat with a fork. It was the only way I knew to approach it. Eggplant and Veggies inside. Unfortunately, the Eggplant was too Eggplanty for me. The Pups liked it though...
Coconut Almond Banana (sorry Unknown) Smoothie with glass straw....
Stir-Fry with Kale Salad and Beet Salad...
and, of course, the Lasagna. Thursday is Lasagna Day at Love Livin, so I get a double order to go. So excellent...
Went to Hull Bay Hideaway last night to pick up food for Poley. He is ill and refusing to eat, so I thought some carryout might tempt him. Unfortunately, it didn't, but while I was there I saw this little fella who brought cheer to my heart...
He started following me to my car, so I tried to find out if he belonged to anyone and all someone said was, "That's Beach Fry." He finally stopped following, but what a cutie!
Hull Bay last night...
These pics were taken through the window this morning. Bananquits have recently begun partaking of the bowl of sugar and the the bowl of water I put out for them...
they live on nectar, but also enjoy eating dry granulated sugar. The drought has made it difficult for them to find nectar bearing flowers and water to bathe in...
So things are still good, except for Poley, however, he is getting premier medical care down here so there is nothing more I can do. Bye for now.

More Natural Livity

Natural Livity has really impressed me the past week. Each item is more delicious than the next. Below was an order of Dinner Roast, Pasta, Soy Chunks and Black-Eyed Peas...
got several delicious meals out of it. No clue what Dinner Roast is made out of but it tastes fantastic...
the Black-Eyed Peas were nice and firm with excellent seasoning...
Picked up two orders yesterday: Sausage (not sure what it is called), Pinto Beans and Vegetables...
Dinner Roast, Okra & Spinach and Bean Curd Skin. Both carryout orders went through a bit of a rollercoaster ride home before being photographed...
there were Yams mixed in with the Pinto Beans. A great combination. I was fearful of the Okra, but it was not like Okra at all, it was actually quite pleasant! Jury is still out on the Bean Curd Skin...
the Sausage and Mixed Vegetables could not be more delicious! They have a talented chef working in their kitchen. Hope to see who is working that magic one day...
dessert last night was not from Natural Livity. Farmer's Market Banana Bread with Guava Jam. Loved the Jam, although, I like all Jams as far as I know...
Bye for now.

Mystery Food Truck

There are a lot of food trucks all over on the island. Found this one on a side street in Charlotte Amalie. If it has a name I dont know it...
the usual hot plates of vegetarian food were inside. The woman who runs the truck was extremely friendly, like most people here...
$8 for an assortment of items, including Rice and Lentils, Roasted Cauliflower, Pea Balls (fried balls of Pea Protein Powder, I guess like Falafel) and Tofu in BBQ Sauce...
she threw in a free Mango from one of the many she picked from her tree...
separated out Western style. The Pea Balls were moist throughout, not dry and crumbly, so she knows her cooking...
another meal of just the Tofu and Rice. Several meals for $8 worked out well...
I have also been using my glass straw...
here it is with some Peanut Punch in the car. The problem with the straw is that you have to remember to carry it with you and then, after using, you have to be careful not to throw it away before you get it home to wash. But I am glad I got it cuz there is just so much trash...
Bye for now.

Yacht Haven Farmers Market

The Yacht Haven Farmers Market was really good today...
I bought a Tomato for a dollar from this stand...
which had lots of other interesting items for sale...
the stems in the bottles on the right were being sold as 'natural viagra'...
another stand...
I dont know what this was being sold as, but it was pretty...
the girl below was from St. John. She makes her own preserves and liqueurs from native fruits, so I bought some Guava Jam for $8...
V's Healthy Delights stand is all vegan. She specializes in Veggie Burgers...
I got a drink made of Tamarind, Guava and Ginger...
really refreshing....
two kinds of Veggie Burgers on the top shelf and Vegetable Johnny Cakes on the second shelf. I may buy some in the future, but I usually prefer soy based Burgers...
Salad...
Pastries and Cakes...
I bought some Banana Bread and a Pineapple Pastry...
Below is a flower that was really attracting a lot of bees. Hardly any bees or butterflies around here...
Bye for now.

Barefoot Buddha

Barefoot Buddha is a popular place near where the cruise ships dock. Today, I got their Wrap Of The Day $11.25 Edamame Hummus, Thai Coconut Peanut Sauce, Shredded Carrots, Pickled Red Onions, Sprouts and Fresh Seasoned Spinach. It was pretty good...
not much to look at on the outside...
but the inside is very nice and they have shaded outdoor garden seating...
they just got a cooler that is going to stock a lot of prepared vegan foods for quick pick up...
Driving home I got stuck in a tiny bit of traffic, so I took this pic out the car window....
Below is the 'Veg Out' $8.75 made vegan. Had it about three weeks ago...Carrots, Sprouts, Avocado, Red Pepper, Red Onion, Mixed Greens & Tomato Coulis. Again, it was pretty good...
the most common bird here is the Pearly Eyed Thrasher...
I was expecting to see a lot of Bananaquits, but mainly see these guys all over...
this one was fascinated with some wet sand by the road...
I drive by this Cardinal Vine a lot. Really pretty...
Bye for now.
