Vegan Food Fair

Today was day one of 19th Annual Bordeaux Farmers Rastifari Agricultural and Cultural Vegan Food Fair..
there was fun live entertainment as well as informative speakers...
so many vendors compared to the regular twice-monthly market at Bordeaux...
I recognized our neighbors from Drina's...
the guy who sells Boiled Peanuts...
as well as Jahleejah Love Peace, proprietor of Natural Livity...
upon arrival, we snacked on two little Plaintain Fritters to take the edge off...
then stumbled upon a little corner booth in the pavillion. I got a Kombucha...
first time I ever had non store bought Kombucha. Refreshing...
the Mr. enjoyed his Turmeric Smoothie...
Queen B, who we normally patronize at Bordeaux, was in a different booth today...
I got a Tofu Wrap $8 from her to go for my dinner. There were Plaintains, Avocado and Pea Fritters in the Wrap as well...
Dessert was from Speedy Redemption...
A Cranberry Sweet Roll $4...
I wasnt planning on returning to the fair tomorrow, but it is a possibility. Either way, I do plan on posting about what produce I saw and bought there today. Bye for now.

  1. What a great market! And so many choices for where to eat.... Your wrap looks so delicious and stuffed with great ingredients- i have never had a pea fritter but i'm fairly certain i would like those too.
Did the cinnamon roll people have other vegan desserts too? Are boiled peanuts any good? I don't understand their appeal....

I'm back to healthy but it certainly has gotten cold here, very soup weather. I made a coconut milk lentil cabbage stew that has been on repeat

    1. Unfortunately, the Cinnamon Roll people did not have any other desserts. I should have stocked up on the Rolls cuz the one I had was excellent. Cant explain the appeal of Boiled Peanuts. It is a Southern thing, apparently. Your Soup sounds very hearty. A Mark Bittman recipe? Where was brunch today?

  2. That looks like my kind of fair. That burrito made my mouth water. Tofu, plantains, and pea fritters? Looks like a fun day.

  3. Well, now we have to know - did you go back today?! I am longing for summer, and therefore living vicariously through these photos! What an awesome market. Did you find other produce to purchase? Or is that mainly at the supermarket warehouse you've shown us? The wrap looks great, and I'm guessing non-commercial Kombucha has to better, and probably more immunity building!

How are Molly and Poley? Remarkably, Terra is still with us - eating, drinking, peeing, and sleeping. Little else. So we know her time is limited, but I guess while she's comfortable- and my mother tolerates her aged bladder - they carry on!

    1. We went back for day two! Hard to believe. I bought a lot of produce. It was all local (apparently it is checked by the authorities to have been grown here or in PR). My little Poley passed away about two months ago, but Molly has filled the void admirably. It was such an ordeal constantly taking him to the vet as well as his being so uncomfortable and not understanding why, I hope Terra's condition isnt as dire as Poley's was.

  4. Is there a significant vegan community near you? Do you have vegan pals?

    1. Veganism is spread throughout the Island, no particular clusters. I have no vegan pals except those in cyber space. Never crossed my mind to try to seek any out. Hmmmm...

  5. THat wrap is everything!!! It looks incredible, what a great choice! The kombucha looks good too... it almost looks like pink lemonade. Did it have a flavor? Looks like a really fun way to spend a day!

I just saw the comments above and I'm so sorry to hear about sweet Poley :(
