Happy Holidays

Christmas is not as big a deal down here as on the mainland....
Santa was all by his lonesome at TuTu Park Mall yesterday. I only took his pic cuz it amused me that he had a bottle of Coke. I guess I dont think of Santa eating and drinking except for milk & cookies...
as a local celebration, every mid-December there is an evening lighted boat parade that is super impressive. The main street is shut down and there are some steel drum bands playing Christmas music while people walk up and down the drag. A good way to observe the season...
many folks wear Santa Hats around as well...always fun to see, but probably super hot...
a crystal Santa and Reindeer in the Swarovski window...
Gardein Turk'y Cutlets with Pepperidge Farm Stuffing for dinner tonight...
Vegan Treats Nutball and Buckeye for dessert. Lots more to come. Bye for now.

  1. Poor santa! It's weird to see such an empty mall at the holidays. I love Buckeyes!!!

    1. Buckeyes need to be more commonplace. Didnt you say you were from Ohio originally?

    2. Yes, Columbus to be exact so buckeyes are definitely a big part of my past!!

  2. I suppose the holiday commercialization hasn't reached every inch of the planet, which isn't a bad thing! Santa drinking CocaCola is an iconic mid-20th century image, so he's done it right! Ha ha!

Delicious nibbles. I trust the canines, felines, and foul also enjoyed a few treats?!

    1. I guess it is better to see Santa drinking out of a bottle of Coke than a brown paper bag.

It is Christmas every day for my critters.

  3. Aww lonely Santa! I like that it is low key there. The lighted boat parade is so awesome!! I love that, it is unique to your location and I'm sure it is so beautiful in person.

Great looking food! I love that you can at least find Gardein there. That looks like a perfect meal. The treats look really yummy too! I'm glad you were able to (Vegan) Treat(s) yourself :) I'm such a nerd, haha! Hope you had a great holiday!!

    1. I am so grateful I can get Gardein and Field Roast products here. Not all of them, but enough to not feel deprived.

The holidays got a lot better today. I received the most amazing package in the mail;-D

    2. Where in St. Thomas can you purchase Gardein and Field Roast products? Is there a grocery store there that sells them? I will be there in May and would like to get a hold of some while i am there.
      Thanks :)

    3. Cost-U-Less in TuTu is the best place to stock up on Field Roast and Gardein products (and alcohol if you drink). The prices for Field Roast are the same as on the mainland, the Gardein products are a couple bucks more. If you dont have a vehicle, you could perhaps rent a scooter to get to the store.

  4. I can see how it's difficult to summon christmas "spirit " when it's tropical, that santa does look rather bored and lonely though!
Glad you can get some field roast products there, and stuffing is a good call there. Your cookies all sound fabulous to me! Especially those buck eyes....

We did a brunch on christmas day, everyone else had my mom's homemade sticky buns and quiche with a side of salad, i had a big plate of salad (that i made) that had lots of great CA produce with almonds, dried cranberries, and a cashew cream based dressing with lots of parsley and chives in it.
We had christmas dinner at my sister's with her significant other and his kids and dad as well as my nephew and parents, i made and brought cauliflower "steaks" with romesco sauce as well as a huge batch of roasted brussel sprouts and parsnips which was basically my dinner along with a few baby potatoes and lots of mulled wine. I just had dessert wine for dessert since the fancy chocolate mousse cake certainly had a lot of dairy
