At breakfast, Gladys' sister, Pauline, agreed to show me how she cuts up a Mango in seconds flat. She sure made it seem easy. It is Mango season now, so maybe I will pick some Mangos up off the street and practice preparing them...
also had my first Avocado Toast since being back...
En route back from lunch I picked up some Pineapples at a roadside stand. They said they were grown on Island, so it will be interesting to see if they are any good.
While eating lunch at De Coal Pot, I noticed lots Soups being carried out, which was odd because there is no Soup on the menu. Turns out they have a Red Bean Soup that it is made vegetarian and they add the meat later. I got some to go for dinner. Unfortunately, the Soup was surprisingly sweet to my tastebuds, so I really shouldnt include this as a favorite, but I am posting about my day so there it is...
My Sweet Sweet Sadie is a huge favorite, she always makes my day. Lots more to come. Bye for now.
I would eat so many more mangoes if I were better at cutting them, but it's a real struggle for me and I always feel like I waste a lot of the fruit. Those pineapples look nice and golden, I bet they'll be delicious!
ReplyDeleteSweet Sadie is very beautiful, her sweetness really shows! I'm glad you guys found each other!
Yes, it is the waste issue with cutting up Mangoes. I guess you have to just accept it. Maybe a machine doesnt waste as much.
DeleteAwww beautiful Sweet Sadie!! I love her face!!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that you got to take a day off. It seems like you had a really delicious day! Mangoes are so annoying to cut. It's why I spend a little more to have them cut for me haha. Lunch looks incredible and omg all of those pineapples!! I'd be in heaven! And I'd probably over buy because yum! I can't wait to hear how they are.
The Pineapples were sweet! Such a hit or miss fruit. Get a bad Pineapple and there is a lot to throw away...
DeleteHooray for days off! You're off on Monday, too, right?
ReplyDeleteI watched a YouTube video to learn how to cut mangoes. They are so yummy, but so slippery. I learned that you hold one side with a paper towel. Fresh ones are far superior to frozen!
I hope you are fully recovered from your jet lag, and enjoying the fuzzies, the Mister, and your long weekend!
Yep I had Monday off. Using a paper towel is a great idea to hold the slippery Mango, thanks!
DeleteOh i hope you do get good at cutting mangos! Last time i tried i hurt myself pretty badly... there's a mexican lady on the corner and she sells mango and cucumber slices with lime and chili powder- i always see her stab the mango with a long stick, then peel it with a peeler and cut it which seems clever.
ReplyDeleteAll those pineapples! On a tropical island you would expect they're good.
Nice looking lunch there, too bad the soup wasn't what you expected
Ttrockwood
I can see where a lot of people would get sliced from dealing with those delicious Mangoes. That Mexican lady sounds cool! What a neat way to make a living.
