Stonehenge and Bath

We had to be at Victoria Coach Station at 8:15 this morning and the Mr. wanted room service breakfast, so into the mini fridge went my Acai Cup and up came my order of Avocado Toast. The hotel restaurant is so great...
From London we took a coach to Stonehenge...
where we had an hour and a half to explore. Summer Solstice is the only time people can get near and touch the rocks, approximately 30,000 people come to revel on that day...
afterwards, there is a very nice gift shop with all things Stonehenge...
Chocolate Stonehenge...
Stonehenge in a tin...
build your own Stonehenge...
there is a nice Cafe next to the gift shop where I picked up a Hummus Sandwich...
it was pretty good, enjoyed en route to Bath...

scenes from the ride include passing a small village where they still have thatched rooves...
a old 'jail' for the town drunks to dry out..
Grazing Sheep...
the Roman Baths were okay...
we toured the innards...
many artifacts were unearthed on the site and documented...
of course this tiny 'dog pipe' attracted my attention...
very informative...
you are not to touch this water...
but on the way out, you can sample the Bath Water that has been properly filtered, which I did...
or buy some in the gift shop...
Based on location and reviews, I had picked Stable Pizza for lunch...
bad choice. My vegan pizza was one of the worst things I have ever eaten. Qualified as a 'wasted meal'. Major depressing bummer.
Wandered around some more. Visited The Abbey...
much beauty to behold...
no fee to get in, although a small donation is welcomed...
a real relief after the mob scene in Westminster Abbey yesterday.
One of the top attractions in Bath is the Fudge Kitchen..,
I bought a slab of the Sea Salted Caramel...
After that horrible lunch, I had lost all faith in food. Back in London, I decided to check out Wild Food Cafe for takeaway dinner, since it is so close to the hotel...
a vegan miracle! This restaurant is 100% plant based and wow! This was the best meal ever - Wild and Black Rice, Asparagus, Sweet Potato, Avocado, Sprouting Broccoli, Pine Nuts, Kohlrabi Slaw and Grain Mustard. One of those times where I am so grateful to be vegan, otherwise I never would have experienced such a meal. Wrapping the day up on a high note, thankfully and thank you for looking. Bye for now.

  1. I love all the Stonehenge gifts.
The Roman baths look beautiful and fascinating. I wonder why you can't touch the water? And wow, the Abbey so, so beautiful thanks for the pictures!
I'm happy your day in food ended on a high not. The pizza must look much better than it tasted.

    1. Ha! I was glad to end the day on a high note as well. Didnt think it could be rescued after the pizza. Could have had to end the trip early.

  3. How did I miss the Stonehenge gift shop?! All of that stuff is kind of hilarious and I love it all. The Roman baths look beautiful and the whole town is gorgeous. So much history there

Such a bummer about the pizza but it looks like you made up for it with plenty of other delicious eats! That dinner looked absolutely incredible. It seems like vegan options are easy to find which is always great. I'm impressed that they had vegan salted caramel! Yum!

Thanks for another great travel blog!! I love reading your updates!

  4. My gosh you sure packed a whole lot into one day! What a disappointing cracker looking thing they tried to pass off as "pizza"! Ugh. I'm so glad that fantastic dinner made up for it- kohlrabi slaw sounds totally delicious. I'm sure you slept well that night!
