Food and Flowers

Enjoyed a Peanut Butter and Banana Panini at Pasta Go Go yesterday morning. They were mobbed, so hopefully they will continue to stay open on Saturdays....
checked out Plantation Crown and Hawk Botanical Garden after breakfast...
5 1/2 acres of plants...
with a maze. I didnt venture in. Way too hot to get potentially trapped in a maze....
peafowl....
I liked how they displayed their collection of succulent plants...
some orchids...
looked familiar...
stripey...
a Passion Flower...
Lunch was at De Coal Pot, recently opened in Red Hook. The Veggie Delight was exactly the same as at their Cruz Bay location. No more ferrying over to St. John to enjoy their fantastic food....
breakfast this morning at another new restaurant, SOS Coffee Bar and Grille. Fresh Fruit...
and Roasted Potatoes with a side of Pico De Gallo...
something about the handwriting and cartoons on their menu was oddly reminiscent of a certain zine...
then it was off to Phantasea Botanical Gardens to see what was blooming there...
obviously, a lot of stuff...

this one was way up high...

there were no cruise ships in today, so most everything was closed in Charlotte Amalie. Fortunately, Greengos was open...
Lots more to come. Bye for now.

  1. Wow the botanical gardens are beautiful! but that's not surprising given that the whole island is basically a beautiful jungle (hey, i'm from Queens.) I like the succulent display too. I'm trying to get more plants into my apartment so they're fun to look at.
The potatoes and fruit breakfast definitely sounds legit. And, ha! I love that menu! if I ever opened up a restaurant that's what i'd want my menu to look like

    1. You could probably make extra $$ on the side writing up menus for funky venues. Dont get any plants that are poisonous to cats.

  2. The pb panini looks like a great breakfast option! I was thinking at somewhere with few vegan choices you could just order a side of toast and a side of avocado and do a tableside avocado toast situation...
Nice that the second location is easier for you guys- that veggie delight dish always looks great.
How great to have so many gardens to go see! The orchids are my favorites. There's an orchid shop in the flower district here (aka two blocks near chelsea) that is just crazy rows of them- it's visually stunning to see them all at once.
It warmed up to a tropical mid 50s here today! I went citibiking all over the place which made me very happy :) no brunching since a few of the girls do pr and had to work (oscars)

  3. Beautiful flowers at the botanic gardens! I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on living in a vacation destination, now that you've been there nearly a year (was it over the summer that you moved? Trying to remember!). Are places regularly closed when there isn't a ship?

    1. We have been here a little over eight months and are still adjusting to almost everything being closed in Charlotte Amalie when there is no cruise ship. doesnt matter that there are still a ton of tourists looking to spend money. I think I have finally caught on to things being closed when they are say they are open daily.

  5. I love all of the flowers! If you would have gotten lost in the maze, at least it would have been gorgeous! I really love the striped orchid, and the passion flowers are beautiful. I just want to be there! I'm glad your finding better breakfast/brunch options!

    1. Ha! I think Seattle is considered to be in some sort of rainforest if I am not mistaken. There are probably some exotic things near you that you havent discovered yet.
