Meals Worth Mentioning

The generic appearance of my Hummus Appetizer at Caribbean Fusion belied its quality. The Hummus was 'bright', as Gail Simmons always says on Top Chef, the Celery was crunchy and it was more than enough for an entree. I would definitely recommend it....
plus the view from the restaurant is awesome...
beautiful flowers all around the resort where the restaurant is located...
The Cashew Tofu at Saki House is always 'top notch'. 'Top notch' appears to be used quite frequently these days, especially in Tripadvisor reviews and on tshirts. 'Dumpster Fire' was the word of 2016 and I believe 'Top Notch' will be the word of 2017....
got some Black Bean Soup to go from  Virgilio's on Thursday. It wasnt thick, so the diced Onion was sinking rapidly as I tried to take a picture, but it was so deeply flavorful. Virgilio's is top notch...
below is a not-so-inviting food truck in the Bovoni area of St. Thomas...
our trepidations about approaching were unfounded. The young guys working there were friendly and patient as we tried to figure out how and what to order. Below is a small order with BBQ Tofu, Veggies, Pasta, Rice and Beans and Lentil Balls...
another day we got Stewed Tofu with Mashed Potatoes. They always put Lentil Balls on top whether you ask for them or not. Those food truck guys are good cooks, hopefully a brick and mortar restaurant is in their future...
this Tofutti Almond Bark Frozen Dessert just started popping up in various stores, so I bought one where I found it for the least expensive, $5.95...
it is good, but it is definitely 'frozen dessert', not Coconut Milk....
last weekend it was still decorated for Christmas...
I liked the baskets of complimentary fans. Assume it can get quite warm sitting in there...
thanks for looking...
Lots more to come. Bye for now.

  1. Any food trucks that includes lentil balls on everything sounds top notch to me..! Black bean soup isn't easy to make well so it's exciting to find a good one, the fresh onion is a great idea- soup garnishes can really make or break them for me.
I haven't been thrilled by tofutti's frozen desserts aside from the tofutti cuties which are kind of perfect for their style of ice cream. Definitely team coconut milk ice cream here too

    1. Tofutti Cuties are unusually great. The Tofutti company done good on those. Gotta work harder on the pints of frozen dessert IMO

  2. Yeah lentil balls and bbq tofu, looks like you made a good choice. maybe it's the perspective but the hummus plate doesn't look like a meal to me, even with those pieces of pita.
The black bean soup sounds good though. maybe you forget what freezing weather is like, and how much it just makes you want to eat.
Can't even look at that ice cream right now.

    1. Hear me now and believe me later: the Hummus Platter was a completely satisfying meal. Perhaps images on the blog appear smaller than they are in real life. I even took home Carrots for the pups.

I remember wanted to 'bulk up' during the winter months. Unfortunately, air conditioning recreates that climate pretty well.

  3. That view!! All the views! Two things I know, you have gorgeous views, and it seems like everywhere you eat they really know how to cook tofu!

    1. I am so grateful for all the tofu that is prepared and served down here. It is almost, dare I say? 'common'.

  4. Ugh, I am so envious of the sunny beaches! The charm and romance of winter weather is overrated. The church looks like it is straight out of a southern film - very pretty!

The unassuming food truck appears to serve up many meals worth of deliciousness. I love how many places are vegan or veg-friendly on this island!!

    1. The church is in remarkably great shape for being over 300 years old.

No new food trucks in your neighborhood since the Vegan Van departed

  5. Wow! Everything looks amazing and those views are definitely "top notch!" Really really beautiful views, that water is so clear and blue and gorgeous.

The meals look incredible. There is nothing better than a good hummus and the tofu with cashews looks perfect. Definitely something I'd like to devour! The food truck meal looks pretty great too. You've been eating well! I'm also a little jealous of your warm temperatures :)

The meaning of this is that you actually get rid of fat by eating coconut fat (including coconut milk, coconut cream and coconut oil).

These 3 studies from large medicinal magazines are sure to turn the conventional nutrition world around!
