London Mega-Post

The Mr. forced me up and out of the hotel last night. I was not feeling it, but it turned out well...
we wandered around Chinatown for a long time...
I wasnt hungry, had eaten two Cupcakes a short time earlier, but my Vermicelli Bowl with Tofu at Le Hanoi was so tasty I ate all of it!
After a good nights sleep, breakfast was at Muriel's Kitchen...
Due to bread crunchiness, my Avocado on Sourdough had to be eaten with a knife and fork. The little dish of dressing had chili honey, so they gave me lemon slices. I am sad I will probably never get to eat at this delightful restaurant again...
then it was off to Buckingham Palace..
Buckingham Palace. As you can see, it has been dreary and cold. I keep meaning to buy a scarf...
watched the guards doing drills next door to the Palace...
went on to Westminster Abbey..,
there were two lines getting in. I just got in the long line to the right and after about twenty minutes, I over heard someone saying it was the line for the folks with a 'London Pass', which I didnt have. Hoofed it over to the shorter, but slower, line to the left. Unfortunately, no pics allowed inside. There was much to look at, but the place was so mobbed, we couldnt handle it and bailed pretty soon...
Went on to the Food Hall at Harrod's, where I go to worship....
Their version of Cronuts!
Breadsticks with big green Olives!
Dumplings!
Sandwiches!
Turmeric & Quinoa Wrap with Raw Vegetables, Avocado, Turmeric Quinoa, Spinach and Pomegranate...
the Vegan/Veggie Counter...
how come she gets to curate a counter at Harrods????
Potato Skins with Chickpeas...
Pizzas with Cashew Cheese..l
Rhubarb and Rose Macaron Tart...
Chocolate Cloud Cake...
then I moved on to the produce...everything arranged perfectly...
Luscious Pears....
Plump and juicy Dates...
then I turned around to find an entire counter devoted to Dates!
edible art...
Gold Salt?! Who knew? Phew! Okay, the Mr. was getting tired at this point and they didnt have a 'husband chair' so we hightailed it back to Soho...
for lunch at Mildred's...
we were fortunate to only have to wait about five minutes for a table...
My 'Wood Roasted Mushroom and Ale Pie with Minted Mushy Peas and Fries' was encredibly outstanding. The Mushy Peas were actually the most delicious part of the meal. Again, it is a pity I will probably never get to dine at Mildred's again. Sad!
Diagonally across the street from Mildred's is Veggie Pret, the Veggie version of Pret A Manger. The symbol they use for 'vegan' is different than the usual 'v' so it can be confusing...
they have lots of takeaway Soups, Salads, Sandwiches...
Thoughtful items...
pre-Smoothed Smoothies...
you take your drink over to the counter to be blended after you buy it...
this is what I got for dinner tonight: Tubetti Rigati Pasta and Cauliflower Florets mixed with vegan Bechamel Sauce, with Spinach, Parsley, a sprinking of Breadcrumbs and a drizzle of Olive Oil...
for dessert, I got a Brownie. As you can see, the vegan symbol is different.
We have to catch a bus very early in the am to go to Stonehenge and Bath, so this is what I got for breakfast tomorrow. Overall a great day! It is nice that we arent experiencing sticker shock, the food prices are actually quite reasonable compared to St. Thomas. The only negative (aside from the line through immigration at Heathrow) has been how dry it is. We are constantly hacking and sneezing from the dryness. Anyway, thanks for looking. Hope to blog again tomorrow. Bye for now.

    1. This was my first time trying Mushy Peas, dont know if all incarnations are comparable. Kind of like Bean Dip, very light and healthy.

  2. What an amazing post and recap of a great day! Thank you so much for sharing all of this! I'm so impressed by the quality of the meals you have eaten! The vermicelli with tofu and that mushroom pie! Wow! The açai bowl looks great too. And the Harrod's food hall! Stunning! You must have been in heaven! Did you get any of those dates?! And the pre-blended smoothie mixes is kind of genius. I'm sure it saves so much time for them!

I hope you have an amazing time at Stonehenge and Bath! I remember Stonehenge well and the whole vibe there is very eerie and mysterious! I loved it!

  3. Yyyyaaaayy!! Gah i would have wanted to buy EVERYTHING from that Anna Jones counter! And ALL of the dates! I'm so jealous of the Veggie Pret- i was just reading how they first opened a temporary veggie pret but that it was so crazy popular that they made it permanent and are now adding more veggie pret locations in london- which is really awesome. I don't care if it's omnis eating there, somehow i believe that more people eating more plant based meals are always a good thing. There was a temporary veggie pret in nyc downtown and they're thinking to make some of our many locations all veggie!! :)) I'm excited to read more of your trip posts, love this!
