Paris

We took the 7:55am Eurostar from London this morning, arriving in Paris at 11:17am.
Heading south to Le Marais, we arrived at Le Potager Du Marais before they opened at noon...
so I wandered around this little produce stand next door...
I guess it is Strawberry season...
White Strawberries...
White Asparagus...
The restaurant opened around 12:15, they are on 'island time'..it was a perfect setting...
Started with the Mushroom Pate...
The Bread...
My Seitan Bourguignon with Red Wine and Mushrooms and Mashed Potatoes was very enjoyable...
the Mr. got the Stuffed Cabbage and was very pleased with his choice...
walking from the restaurant to the hotel we saw a Twizy. That is what makes travel great - you see things you never knew existed...
crossed over the Seine...
our Hotel is in the Latin Quarter...
great view out the room...
the other direction...
I walked down to the Fountain St. Michel and sat on the edge for a while...
Checked out St. Severin..
the Latin Quarter is full of mediocre restaurants catering primarily to tourists, so we were drawn to the one with the friendliest waiter inviting us in...
they gave us a each a complimentary wine...
My Vegetable Plate was fine, but it never crossed my mind to say 'no butter. Good to see Paris is still beautiful. Hope to blog tomorrow. Thanks for looking. Bye for now.

  1. Bienvenue a Paris! What a lovely day you had! That market is amazing, those strawberries are huge and gorgeous!! The asparagus is also huge and rather phallic looking, haha. Someone had to say it, right?

That lunch looks delicious! You can't beat fresh, crusty bread and the main dish looks so great. The Mr.'s dish looked amazing too!

Are you going to be in Paris for another day or was it just a day trip? I hope you have a great day tomorrow wherever you are :)

    1. Just read your comment on my last comment :) I know we spend time in Picadilly Circus and Soho and we went to a Museum but I can't for the life of me remember the name of it. We were only there for a few days. We took a day trip to Stonehenge and Bath too. I really wanted to go take a day trip to see the crop circles but we didn't have time. We visited 5 countries in 3 weeks so we were on the move quite a bit :)

    2. Sounds like you had a Eurail Pass. I was hoping to see some crop circles too. We tried to find Picadilly Circus, but it didnt look like what I have seen in pictures. Soho was fantastic, I regret not getting a hotel there instead of Covent Garden.

  2. Those are the prettiest strawberries I've ever seen! And the white strawberries too! I actually never knew white strawberries existed! I wonder if they taste the same?
Paris looks absolutely gorgeous. I feel like I'd never want to leave! I'm loving seeing all the pictures from your trip!

  3. The entire menu from that restaurant looks tempting! Those do look like amazing strawberries, i hope you had some while in paris. I don't understand the euro obsession with white asparagus, i have had it a number of times and it's just a slightly more subdued flavor than the green and yet significantly more expensive. Paris certainly is the land of butter, so that's tricky
