Real Randomness

This Protein Bar was new to me...
I wasnt sure if the climate here was to blame for the major squishyness overall. Might buy again...
found some vegan ice cream at Plaza Extra...
like the protein bar, I think it went through some temperature changes that may have affected the quality. Anyone out there familiar with these products and knows if it is the heat, the products or just me...
went to a cute Burrito Shop this week...
it just opened up a few months ago...the owner is super friendly, and it is great he offers a vegan option, hwoever, IMO, he needs time to work on the seasonings...we will give him another chance in a few more months...
we put out some Canteloupe for the Chickens this week and when I walked by later, it appears that the Hermit Crabs were enjoying it more then the Birds...
this Hermit Crab lives in a nice shell. Classy Crab...
here are some pretty flowers for taking the time to look...
More to come. Bye for now.

  1. Oh my goodness! Who knew that the Hermis Crabs would love cantaloupe?! That is too funny! On the western slope (the part of Colorado on the western side of the Rocky Mountains, Denver is on the east), cantaloupe farms are in abundance, and we definitely don't have any crabs here. Ha ha!

    1. Who knew Cantaloupes grew in Colorado?! The Hermit Crabs appear to eat everything the Chickens will eat.

  2. Fun vegan products are making it down there, now the weather just needs to cooperate! I haven't tried either so I don't know if that's what happened but I suspect it may be part of the issue. Just like freezer burn changes quality and texture I'm sure melting and refreezing has some effect.

The burrito looks great, hopefully he will perfect the seasoning and it will be amazing. Love the pics of the crabs enjoying the cantaloupe! I don't blame them, I bet it was refreshing ;)

    1. I am grateful for the vegan products that make it down here, but it sure would be nice if Trader Joes opened up. There is a Walgreens, a Home Depot and a KMart, why not Trader Joes???

  3. Ack!! There are crabs in your yard?!?!?? Ummm.... They scare me.
DF Mavens is actually an nyc brand! They had an ice cream shop for about a year but that closed, it was quite tasty but possible that via the various forms of transit to get to you that it got icey or grainy.
Too bad the burrito shop needs some help, that would be a nice option.

I actually tried the new nut butter filled clif bar the other day, it's like th classic clif bar but inside there's nut butter! I had the coconut with almond butter, wish i had bought more of them...
I've been working way too much lately and am kind of glad everyone is out of town, so i'm taking the chance to get some R&R. The soft serve at by chloe was the destination of my bike ride today :))

    1. The hermit crabs would be more scared of you, than you of them. When they sense someone is near, they curl up into their shells and (unintentionally) roll down here.

'Grainy' is exactly how the ice cream was. Very disappointing for $8.99 a pint. Some fresh soft serve would be much appreciated.

Maybe you will catch up on work in time to do something special for Labor Day. I miss looking up the restaurants you mention.

    2. I meant roll down hill.

Have yet to see any Clif Bars BTW.

  4. This post reminded me of the hermit crabs I had when I was little. They lived at my grandparents house. I really loved them. I wish I knew back then that they loved cantaloupe!
I bet the temperature change is the problem with the ice cream. I can't speak for the protein bars because I don't think I've ever eaten one!
I agree with Sarah, I'm glad that some vegan products are finding their way to you!

    1. I only knew Hermit Crabs as pets before I came down here. Their presence was a very happy suprise and they always fascinate us.

Well, I am a little behind on the vegan products you get, but that would be true back in Virginia as well.

  5. I tried the Maven's Key Lime Pie (made with coconut milk) back in Texas and thought it was super gritty. It was expensive there too! I just moved here; Maven's was the only vegan premium cream on the shelf but I bought tofutti cuties instead and had no regrets :]

    1. Tofutti Cuties definitely do the job very well. One little Cutie is so tasty and satisfying.
