Thanksgiving

Spent holiday on St. John. Breakfast was a phenomenal Strawberry Banana Smoothie $12 made with Soy Milk at Caneel Bay. So nice they use biodegradable containers...
their grounds are immaculate with lots of interesting flora. I appreciated that they labeled some mysterious plants species like this Fishtail Palm Tree...
an unlabeled Berry Bush with gorgeous blossoms...
that turn into these Berries. Gotta find out what this is...
next was Trunk Bay for swimming and use of showers (Caneel doesnt have showers for guests). Drove down to Coral Bay and enjoyed the herds of Goats wandering freely. This group had an Egret that was following them everywhere...

returned to Caneel Bay for lunch. The Hummus with Grilled Pineapple $14 to start...
My Jerk Tofu Sandwich $16. The Hummus was good, but the Jerk Tofu and Fries were just so-so. The Mr said his Grilled Vegetable Sandwich was also disappointing. Surprising for such an upscale resort to have such mediocre food. Buns were taken for the Chickens...
saw a rainbow on the ferry ride home...
Dinner was some super delicious Pepper Steak and Bowties from Natural Livity. Now they know how to cook up some great grub...
watched 'The Wedding Ringer' with Kevin Hart. Best Thanksgiving I ever had. Looking forward to reading about everyone else's. Bye for now.

    Bummer about the mediocre lunch but the smoothie looks great!! I've never heard of hummus with pineapple before, did you like it? Beautiful rainbow pic!! I'm glad it was a great day for you!

    Island life could never be bad for a holiday! I can completely see how an upscale restaurant might miss the mark, and the little restaurant nails it. Thankfully, the good stuff is closer!

      We just werent sure if anything would be open on Thanksgiving down here. Fortunately, this place was. Assume we will return for Christmas (but try a different menu item).

    Beautiful flowers and rainbow! Glad dinner made up for lunch. I love Kevin Hart, and I loved the Wedding Ringer! I've watched all of his stand-up available on Netflix more than one time, and I always laugh. I really liked the fishtail palmtree.

      I recently watched John Mulaney's and Anthony Jeselnick's stand-up specials and they were incredible. Assume you've done 'Master of None' as well. Also great.

    Yeah, somewhere around smoothie, swimming, and goats with an egret friend you definitely won the best thanksgiving prize!! :) and i'm sure the chickens appreciated your lunch remnants.
    Natural lividity just can't go wrong! But....no pie?!??

    Our thanksgiving had a ton of delicious food- my favorites included the red lentil curry soup, a beet/olive/basil salad, roasted rainbow carrots with pecans and basalmic, and the homemade pumpkin rolls (a few dairy heavy dishes were there too, and i passed on the mashed sweet potato banana thing)

      No pie! I could have bought a Wholley Wholesome Pumpkin Pie for $18, but am not allowed to turn on the oven. Congrats on a positive Thanksgiving experience. did they bring recipes to share? i hate Beets, but that mixture sounds interesting. Was your Salad a hit?
