Market Square Farmers Market

We stopped by this morning around 8am to buy some Bananas and, by that time, most of the produce etc. had been sold. Supposedly gotta get there by 6am for the full experience...
I thought I would show some of what is in season...
I think this is Mint and Parsley...
Breadfruit is back...
I was told that the below fruits are Avocado, but I am still suspicious and didn't want to buy one just to confirm. Bananas were everywhere...
Cinnamon from Dominica...
Cashew Apple amongst the Mangoes...
aint touching that with a ten foot pole (and there is currently no reason to pay for Mangoes, they're literally falling off the trees into the roads)...
these were called 'sweet cherries'...
the Coconut Guy plowing through dozens of Coconuts....
Lunch was at the The Tap and Still. The Veggie Burger and Fries are vegan, I am 95% sure the Bun is as well, but contains mono and di-glycerides....
Below is a flower called 'Shell Ginger'...
Lots more to come. Bye for now.

  1. What?? Who is up and at a farmers market at 6am on a saturday? I would love to have fresh mangos so readily available.... What happens to the coconut man's coconut leftovers? Isn't there still the coconut meat inside?
Your fries with lunch look great!

    1. They waste the Coconut Meat and Jelly from what I witness.

Yes, Mangoes are everywhere right now. People are giving them away.

Have you eaten anywhere interesting? How are you celebrating the 4th?

  2. That is a so cool to have such an early Farmer's Market! They are speaking my language! Those are some long, light avocados. And the sweet cherries look like habenero peppers!

    1. You are right, I think the guy said they were 'hot cherries' and I think they were habaneros. I cant handle that level of heat.

    2. Hot cherry is a pepper variety! They definitely run towards the spicy side.

    3. Yeah, I screwed that up. I heard 'cherry' and thought 'sweet'

  3. Wowza! Not joking about the early bird! I guess if you ever have insomnia, you could watch them set up in the five o'clock hour, and then make your purchases! The market close to me opens at 8am, and I do like to get there then - but only because it is still cool and less populated, which means a comfortable journey for Remy.

    1. Awww! Little Remy at the Farmers Market sounds so adorable. It is such a big world to the little guy. back in Virginia, I used to see dogs at the Farmers Market eating Brussels Sprouts and other produce that would accidentally hit the ground.

  4. Wow! What interesting Farmers Market fare. The fruit looks delicious, I would love to do a tropical fruit tasting someday. I'm not going to lie, I'd be inclined to get there at 6am anyway to avoid crowds and get the best pick but I'm am also running on a body clock that wakes me up between 5:30 and 6:30 on a daily basis anyway. Too bad you missed out on the bananas though!

That veggie burger looks incredible! I imagine it was really messy but delicious. The fries look yummy too.

    1. A tropical fruit tasting sounds like a fun event. Besides Pineapple, Mango, Papaya and Banana you could do Sugar Apple, Egg Fruit, Star Fruit, Passion Fruit...I will think on that idea.
