Sunday in Frankfurt

is really super quiet...
I was literally walking the streets alone much of the time...
arrived at Veganz when they opened at 11am...
my expectations were way too high. There was just a small counter with pre-made Sandwiches and Cakes. The grocery store part is now closed on Sundays, but from what I could see of it, I wasn't missing much. Denn's Biomarket was much more impressive...
the restaurant part is operated by a company called Wondergood...
the cakes looked incredible...
I mean really....
the Germans know their baked goods...
fans of Cinnamon Buns would be happy here...
I got a Cheese Sandwich...
with a side of Potato Salad. Both were very delicious, but I couldnt help but wonder what Sunday brunch was like at Vevay. Still, it was my vegan duty to check the place out...
hit the streets for more walking...
In and along the river was a waterfowl extravaganza I was not expecting. First time seeing a new bird on the trip. I have mainly seen Pigeons, Crows and Sparrows...
the below are Bean Geese..
Mute Swans...
floating along with one leg behind its back...
Egyptian Geese..
a family of Bar Headed Geese..
crossed the bridge with all the love locks...
I am a fan of romance...
tried to drink an Apfelwein. Couldnt do it. Tasted disgusting. Four Euros down the drain, but again, had to do it...
Stumbled upon Das Eis,..
Best Ice Cream I have ever had...
I got a Straciatella (Chocolate Chip) and Burgermeister (PB & Chocolate)
I am so thankful I got to try this place...
I also enjoyed a soft Pretzel in my room this afternoon. Had to buy Mustard at the store cuz they dont offer it here at the bakeries and I couldnt grab any in Burger King. Gotta admit, the Pretzel was no better than I have had in the States, but the Mustard was super strong. I will enjoy it back at home...
really interesting statue....
still have this piece of cake I bought this morning at Veganz...
Thanks for looking. I depart tomorrow at 10:45am.  auf Wiedersehen für jetzt

  1. Frankfurt looks almost fairy tale like, especially the first pictures where the streets are empty.

  2. How beautiful to walk the quiet streets there. What a bummer the beer was yucky but looks like that amazing ice cream made up for it!
How did they not offer mustars with the pretzel?? I would be in the grocery store shopping for all kinds of mustards and snacks and such to bring back...that's a gorgeous slice of cake! I'm totally in awe of the pastry case, how could anyone choose just one?

    1. Other customers ask for Mustard as well, but they dont offer it. So odd.

I agree on the decision making issue. Thankfully I was confined to vegan choices only because the non-vegan cakes and pastries would be impossible to pick and choose from.

  3. I've noticed that Europe can go dormant on Sundays, I wonder is there a "stay inside your houses until noon" rule? Or does everyone live in the burbs? So strange!

Well done on the vegan foodstuffs! It looks like each spot was better than the previous. The ice cream looks amazing!! Hooray for soft pretzels!!

I hope you have a safe flight home!!

    1. I was expecting a lot to be closed on Sunday, but it was really weird how the city was practically vacant. No clue what people do all day on Sundays.

  5. Burgermeister is a terrible name for what sounds like a delicious ice cream.
Awesome bird display. Love the swan with the one back leg sticking out! Was catsitting for the folks and got to see some pretty blue jays in their pine tree.
I'd definitely be all over those cinnamon rolls! They're huge! Although they don't look iced...
my friend says the best soft pretzels he's ever had are in Philadelphia, maybe yr plane can make a stopover there. Safe trip back!! So glad for you that you got to take this vacation, i know it's not easy for you to leave the animals.

    1. A lot of things/places are called Burgermeister there. No clue why. Philly is not on my list of places to go

  8. Wonderful ideas for small parties! Thanks for them sharing here! Currently, I am looking for decoration ideas for my Seattle Venues. I feel travel theme might not look good in a bridal shower. I am hosting it for my cousin.
